Partners with Porex to Develop A Safer, More Effective Sterilization Container for the Medical Industry in China<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>(<strong>Fairburn, GA <\/strong><strong>\u2013 May 17, 2019<\/strong>) Porex, a global leader in porous polymer solutions, and GuangdongXianfeng\n Medical Technology Co., Ltd. have teamed up to develop a sterile \ncontainer that will improve the autoclave sterilization process for \nsurgical instruments and help to reduce the risk of infection. The \ncontainer features a robust, reusable sterilization filter designed by \nPorex to block bacteria without the need for filter replacements. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sterile containers are used in hospitals, dental offices, outpatient \ncenters, as well as other medical practices to sterilize surgical \ninstruments and maintain sterility until use in surgery. About one in 31\n hospital patients acquires a healthcare-associated infection (HAI) on \nany given day as a result of poor cleaning or disinfecting practices \naround a surgical procedure at a healthcare facility. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To combat this issue, Xianfeng uses the POREX Virtek\u2122 PTFE venting \nand filtering solution, which allows for a safer, more efficient and \nconvenient autoclave sterilization of surgical instruments. The \ncost-saving vent not only acts as a protective barrier against bacteria \nduring subsequent storage but also improves efficiency and convenience \nfor healthcare workers who no longer have to replace single-use paper or\n textile filters. &nbsp;The POREX Virtek PTFE vent\/filter can be used for \nthousands of autoclave sterilization cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLife-saving and health betterment procedures often leave patients \nvulnerable to HAIs, which can have a devastating emotional, financial \nand medical impact; at times, these infections can even lead to death,\u201d \nsaid Michael Lei, Porex\u2019s commercial leader for greater China. \u201cOur \nPOREX Virtek PTFE venting solution challenges the industry standard \nmaterial and allows for greater infection control. We are excited to \ncollaborate with Xianfeng to create a more durable and reliable product \nthat contributes to greater patient safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Porex has engineered this porous venting\/filtering component using \nits proprietary medical-grade sintered PTFE hydrophobic membrane.
